The September Vegan Box came jam-packed with goodies - sweet treats, savoury goodies, magazine subscriptions, beauty items and cleaning products - so many treats it would be a long post to review them all in one hit so welcome to the first of the review posts for the awesome items this little treasure chest contained!
Since I have such an obsession with order and putting things in 'boxes' I've grouped the items - Here's the final installment!
HAPPINESS + WELLBEING MAGAZINE
Online E-Zine
$2.99 per issue
'Happiness + Wellbeing magazine is the digital sanctuary for the intelligent, adventurous and perceptive woman. Designed to inspire and enhance your everyday life, h + w magazine offers monthly tutorials, articles, lifestyle tips, wisdom and features to help you live a healthier, happier and more meaningful life.'
I'll admit - I'm more of a 'paper & ink' publication kind of gal. I like to have my reading material in my hands, fiddling with the corners of a page as I read and dragging it hither and yon to keep me quiet and entertained wherever I might need it. I have one of those dinky little tablet doo-dads but just can't used to electronic books and magazines.

Even so, I happily followed the instructions to sign up for three issues of the Happiness+Wellbeing eZine. I was immediately taken with the layout and styling - it was easy to read and stylish with beautiful pictures. I liked that you could follow the various links by simply clicking, certainly not something you can do in your traditional mag!
It was obvious that the advertising, of which there didn't seem to be as much as usual magazines, 'was carefully selected to match the vibe and audience of the publication. As for the article, I will be honest and say that many of them were a bit more 'new-agey' than I would usually seek out (ie. How To Use the Tarot to find
Clarity + Directon) but still interesting. That said, the stories that were of interest I found I could barely put down - I really enjoyed the interview with Jordan Younger from The Balanced Blonde and, of course, the recipe section!
I don't think I will be a regular reader of Happiness+Wellbeing but at only $2.99 an issue I can see myself purchasing and downloading this eZine in place of more expensive paper & ink options when I'm travelling - I would stand to save lots of dollars and space which is always welcome with the high price of excess baggage!
SCREAMING SEEDS SPICE CO.
Moroccan Couscous
$6.95
Get Your Own Here
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Couscous is such a quick, easy and tasty option that I am guilty of relying on when I'm feeling uninspired or lazy after a long day at work. I usually stick with the plain supermarket brand option and flavour it with herbs and spices myself before adding some veg and beans - It's not as nutritious as rice of quinoa but for speed, it can't be beat!
But this couscous from Screaming Seeds Spice Co. cuts down the prep time even more by coming pre-spiced!! I'm a fan of the flavours of Morocco, often spicing my own creations this way, so I was more than happy to try this mix out!
I prepared the couscous as directed before adding in some diced tomato and sliced red onion along with a sprinkling of pine nuts. Onto a plate along with some pita, hummus and salad and lunch was served for Danny and I on sunny Sunday afternoon.
Overall the taste was good - I found the cardamom came through a little too strong for my liking but Danny thought it was perfect. While their website tell me the couscous mix is available online and via a few local stores I think I'll stick to paying a lot less for plain couscous to spice myself. I am interested though in checking out some of their delicious sounding spice blends - Southern Cajun and Caribbean Chilli sound particularly delicious! I've also bookmarked their recipes page for some great meal ideas.

And That's It!
We hope you enjoyed our reviews of the products in the September Vegan Box - we certainly enjoyed getting to try them all out (well, the mopping wasn't Kristin's favourite way to spend a morning...)
